Installation Guide

⚠️ Important Security Note

Because this app is a private internal tool, it is not "Signed" by Apple or Microsoft. You will see a security warning when opening it for the first time. Follow the steps below to bypass it.

Installing on macOS (.dmg)

When you double-click the app, you may see a popup saying: "Whis-AI cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified" or "App is damaged".

  1. Open your Downloads folder in Finder.
  2. Right-click (or Control+Click) on the Whis-AI app icon.
  3. Select Open from the menu.
  4. A new popup will appear asking if you are sure. Click Open.

Alternative: Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security. Scroll down to the "Security" section and click "Open Anyway" next to Whis-AI.

Installing on Windows (.exe)

When you run the installer, you may see a blue window saying: "Windows protected your PC" (Microsoft Defender SmartScreen).

  1. Click the underline text that says More info.
  2. A new button will appear at the bottom. Click Run anyway.

Permissions Setup

To capture meeting audio, the app requires specific system permissions.

1. Screen Recording (Audio Capture)

This is the most critical permission. It allows Whis-AI to "listen" to the audio coming out of your speakers (Zoom, Teams, etc.).

2. Microphone Access

Used as a backup if system audio capture fails, or if you want to speak to the assistant directly.

Troubleshooting

Status says "Audio Access Denied"

The app failed to access the system audio.
Fix: Ensure you have granted "Screen Recording" permission in System Settings. If you just granted it, you must restart the app for it to take effect.

Sub-Overlay says "Active Plan Required"

You have hit the 10 free usage limit for the trial tier. You can check your status by clicking the Profile icon > Refresh Status.

Login window is stuck or blank

If the Google Login browser window doesn't redirect back:
1. Close the app completely (Profile > Close App).
2. Relaunch.
3. Ensure your firewall is not blocking localhost connections.

I can't find the app after minimizing

Use the global shortcut Cmd + \ (or Ctrl + \) to bring it back to focus. Check your system tray (top right on Mac, bottom right on Windows) for the Whis icon.
