Virtusa Interview Guide (2026)

Virtusa hires freshers into Coder and Power Coder tracks (differing in package and coding depth) through a four-stage process: an online test with MCQ and coding sections, one to two technical interviews, an optional group discussion, and an HR round. The Power Coder path includes a harder advanced coding round.

Round-by-round: exactly what's asked & how to prepare

1

Online Assessment

~90 min+
MCQ aptitude/technical plus one or two coding rounds

A ~60-question MCQ portion (quant, logical, technical, verbal, often 15 each, with -0.25 negative marking) followed by coding. There are commonly two coding rounds: an easy-medium set, and for Power Coder an advanced set. Negative marking means guessing MCQs costs you.

Example questions
  • Quant, logical, verbal and technical MCQs
  • Easy-medium coding (arrays, strings, math)
  • Advanced coding (DP, graphs) for Power Coder
  • Time-complexity awareness
  • Basic OOP/DBMS technical MCQs
How to prepare
  • Practice MCQ sets across quant/logical/verbal/technical
  • Solve easy-medium coding, plus DP/graphs for Power Coder
  • Note negative marking: only answer MCQs you're confident on
  • Take a timed full mock
Common mistakes
  • Guessing MCQs despite negative marking
  • Skipping the harder coding round for Power Coder
  • Partial solutions from missed edge cases
What they look for
  • Accurate MCQs without reckless guessing
  • Correct code across both rounds
  • Complexity awareness
2

Technical Interview(s)

~30-45 min each
OOP, SQL, DSA, collections and projects

One to two rounds on OOP in Java/Python, SQL queries, data structures, Java collections, and your resume projects. In-person rounds at the company probe fundamentals, collections, SQL and project depth.

Example questions
  • OOP concepts with examples
  • SQL query with joins/aggregation
  • Java collections and their trade-offs
  • A DSA problem or its approach
  • Project walkthrough and contribution
How to prepare
  • Revise OOP, collections and DBMS to spoken depth
  • Practice SQL queries
  • Solve DSA problems you can explain
  • Rehearse resume projects deeply
Common mistakes
  • Weak collections knowledge
  • SQL gaps
  • Unclear project ownership
What they look for
  • Solid OOP and collections
  • Correct SQL
  • Project ownership
3

Group Discussion (optional)

~15-25 min
Communication and teamwork

Some drives run a GD on a general or tech topic to assess communication, structure and collaboration. Not always included.

Example questions
  • A current-affairs or tech topic
  • Structuring and defending a viewpoint
  • Building on others' points
  • Summarizing the discussion
How to prepare
  • Practice concise, structured points
  • Read summaries of current tech topics
  • Practice inviting others in
  • Learn to open and close a GD
Common mistakes
  • Dominating or staying silent
  • Points without structure
  • Interrupting others
What they look for
  • Clear, structured contribution
  • Collaboration
  • Calm tone
4

HR Interview

~20-30 min
Cultural fit and career goals

A conversational round on motivation, cultural fit and career goals rather than technical depth. Candidates who clear the earlier rounds have a strong selection rate, so composure here matters.

Example questions
  • Why Virtusa and the Coder/Power Coder track
  • Career goals
  • A strength and a growth area
  • Relocation and joining readiness
  • A teamwork story
How to prepare
  • Research Virtusa and the two tracks
  • Prepare STAR behavioral stories
  • Rehearse an authentic 'Why Virtusa'
  • Prepare honest logistics answers
Common mistakes
  • Generic motivation
  • No behavioral examples
  • Uncertainty on logistics
What they look for
  • Clear communication
  • Genuine fit
  • Logistical readiness

What to master

  • Quant, logical, verbal and technical MCQs
  • Easy-medium DSA
  • Advanced DSA (DP, graphs) for Power Coder
  • OOP and Java collections
  • SQL and DBMS
  • Time-complexity analysis
  • Resume project depth
  • STAR/GD communication

Eligibility

Typically 60% or 6.0+ CGPA across 10th, 12th and graduation. Coder (~5 LPA) and Power Coder (~6.5 LPA) tracks differ mainly by coding depth. Confirm exact cutoffs and packages per drive.
